A few more pictures

I need to do better keeping my camera with me all the time and not thinking Ill get back and take pictures "later". This trip is quickly winding down! Anyway, here are some pics I DID manage to take this last week.

These pics got a little out of order. Building a cement wall at the Matt Talbot center to replace the estera woven one.

One of the tutoring centers. Because teacher and space shortages, older kids go to school in the morning and the younger ones in the afternoon. In the off times, kids that are struggling with school come here to get help with their homework. Lots of volunteers spend their time here.

 One of the pharmacies-medical supplies.

We went out to a farm and had homemade pizza! So delicious! And the guacamole with papas fritas (basically french fries) were muy bueno!

Andres is probably my favorite PT patient to work with here. He is 3 years old with CP. His mom is so good with him! This first picture is of Andres and Maria, the PT. They use these removable splint things for his arms and legs to help get some weight bearing through his legs and shoulders.
I see lots of people who have had strokes here and usually both arm and leg on affected side are equally limited. Ive been able to teach them a lot about PNF and some NDT.

Kyle, the break dancer :) giving a demonstration and a lesson to one of the elementary schools

 The kids love gringos!

Olga, the PTA working with a patient.
Andres in his stander. Isnt he adorable? I LOVE his smile and hes nice enough to share them ALOT!

Maria, Olga, and I have ceviche and beer (at lunchtime!) to celebrate Marias birthday

Saw this one night at the sports complex. Just a bunch of people dancing a choreographed thing. Pretty cool. Pics didnt turn out that well.

Saw this when we were walking downtown the other day. The picture doesnt out out the full effect, but basically this woman police officer has the tightess uniform I have ever seen. She kinda looked like she should be on RENO 911 haha!

The toddler room at the Cuna. I help out there with gross motor development. The first day I went in, one of the teachers was sitting on the floor playing with the kids...and not just sitting, but W-sitting. OH the horror!
 Preschool room at the Cuna

More of the cement wall being put up at Matt Talbot. What is nice about these projects is that it provides work to Peruvians who might not otherwise have it. I think it took em about a week to put the wall up, making 18 soles per day (roughly 10 American dollars) which is minimum wage in Peru. Hard to imagine living off of that.
